The hills will be alive with The Sound of Music as the much loved family musical comes to the Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury.
The runner up from the 2015 series of The Voice stars as Maria alongside Coronation Street’s Gray O’Brien.
It tells the true story of the world-famous singing family, from their romantic beginnings and search for happiness, to their thrilling escape to freedom as their beloved Austria becomes part of the Third Reich at the start of Second World War.
Lucy said: “The part is a dream come true for me. I moved from Ireland to go to London to work in musical theatre.
“To be here now and playing a part like that is a fantastic honour.
“She’s such a wonderful character to play.”
Indeed, she was reluctant to take part in the BBC series as she was so fixated on a career on the stage,
Lucy added: “It was only my drama teacher nagging me and nagging me. I went along and thought it was just one day. And then I got through all the rounds and that is how I treated it.
“It’s not something I ever wanted to do but I am glad to have been a part of it. If nothing else it has led to opportunities like playing Maria.”
The Sound of Music can be seen from Wednesday May 18 to Saturday May 21.
