A former student at Vandyke Upper School in Leighton Buzzard is to play the lead role in a new musical.

Elysia Allsop, who still lives in the town, is playing the lead role of Mary Phagan, the 13 year old who is murdered in Parade.

The show will be performed at the Watford Palace Theatre which runs from Wednesday June 10 to Saturday June 13.

She said: “I am exceedingly excited to bring this role to life at the prestigious Watford Palace.

“The score is breathtaking and the show is an all-round beautiful one.”

Elysia, currently studies at Rose Bruford College, working on her degree of Opera Studies.

Her family have run the Advanced Theatre Company based in Leighton Buzzard which have recently performed productions of The Hot Mikado, Oliver and Miss Saigon.

As well as Mary Phagan, Elysia will also be performing with Vivo D’Arte, who are putting on Parade, in there summer production of Oliver as Mrs Sowerberry at the Watford Palace Theatre.
