Man arrested following woman’s unexplained death

A man has been arrested following the unexplained death of a woman in her late 30s at a house in Hockliffe.

Police were called to the property in Manor Road on Friday afternoon (May 16) just after 5pm after the ambulance service reported a sudden death at the property.

The woman had been found dead inside the house and a subsequent post-mortem has been unable to ascertain the cause of death.

An investigation has been launched into the death and detectives from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit have undertaken house-to-house enquiries in the area, with Scenes of Crime Officers completing a forensic examination of the scene.

A formal identification of the body is due to be carried out before any further details are released.

A man in his mid 30s, who is believed to be known to the woman, was arrested at the scene in connection with the death and he has been released on police bail pending histology and toxicology results.

Det Chief Insp Jerome Kent, of the BCHMCU, is leading the investigation and anyone who has information relating to the inquiry is urged to contact Bedfordshire Police on 101, or text information to 07786 200011.
