Romance is in the air for Danesborough Chorus

Spring birdsong will be complemented by spring harmony in two romantic performances at the next Danesborough Chorus concert at 7.30pm on Saturday, April 5 in St Mary’s Church, Woburn.

The choir will perform Liszt’s Missa Choralis and Dvorak’s Mass in D in a concert conducted by Ian Smith.

Providing expert accompaniment is organist John Witchell, who recently appeared in BBC TV series Great Railway Journeys with Michael Portillo, who will also perform Liszt’s Fantasy and Fugue on the Theme BACH.

“Musically, both Liszt and Dvorak belong to the Romantic era, and they were also noted primarily as instrumental composers” said Ian. “However, this concert will demonstrate their outstanding skills as masters of choral composition. Whatever the weather, come prepared to be wrapped in a warm blanket of vocal harmony!”
