Ruby, 8, delivers the goods in contest to design van artwork for Leighton Buzzard food business

Waterdene Foodservice, of Chartmoor Road, asked children of its home delivery customers to show off their creative talents and produce artwork that would make people smile if they saw the van out delivering.

The standard of entries made it a difficult decision for the judges, but the winner chosen was Ruby Dancer, aged 8, of Stewkley,

A Waterdene spokesman said: "We wanted a design that was bright, happy and colourful. It was a way to get the community involved and a thank you to all the households that are supporting us during these unusual times.

"We were delighted to received so many entries to choose from and we did have a tough job choosing just one. We finally selected Ruby as the winner as her design just stood out as being so cheerful and we loved the little fruit and veg characters.

"All participants received a certificate and a sweet treat as a thank you. We would like to thank our home delivery customers and business customers old and new for their continued support.

"We would like to encourage people to continue to use their local suppliers, shops, farm shops, cafes, takeaways, pubs and restaurants who have being doing all they can to adapt and continue to maintain a good level of supplies to their communities."
