Google data shows Central Beds' residents movements have changed massively since coronavirus outbreak

Central Bedfordshire residents have been following government advice - with visits to shops and cafes having fallen by 82% since the coronavirus lockdown.

The information comes from products such as Google Maps during the period between February 16 and March 29.

The data also revealed people were travelling to bus and train stations 74% less often in Central Beds and journeys to workplaces had dropped 54%.

Trips for grocery had also fallen 45% while trips to the park had also dropped 41%.

It looks like more people are staying at home and following government advice, as 'residential' showed an increase of 20%.

There were similar figures for nearby Luton - trips to shops had fallen by 79%, trips to train and bus stations were down 90%, journeys to workplace had dropped 49%, grocery trips were down 39% and visits to the park were down 41%.

People in Luton were also staying at home with an increase of 19%.
