Cedars makes England's top 100 for GCSE success

Minister of State for Schools, Nick Gibb MP, has written to Cedars offering his “warmest congratulations” on the achievement.

He said: “Your school is one of top 100 non-selective state-funded schools in England showing the greatest sustained improvement in the percentage of pupils achieving five or more A*-C grades, including Maths and English.

“Ensuring your pupils are achieving at least the benchmark standard of attainment at Key Stage 4 provides a strong basis for their further education and employment.”

Mr Gibb added: “Thank you for your work in this important area of a young person’s education and congratulations again to you and your staff for all your hard work and professionalism.”

Headteacher Steve Palmer said: “We are obviously delighted to receive such recognition for the excellent GCSE results achieved in 2015.

“To be in the top 100 non-selective schools for sustained improvements is a great achievement, and shows what comprehensive schools can achieve.

“The staff were brilliant in supporting the students, and the amount of revision support on offer was staggering.

“The challenge is now to keep these improvements going in 2016!”
