The Mens Association of Stanbridge and Tilsworth (MAST) recently led a successful five month donation drive for the machine and cabinet sets - which at almost £1,700 each was no small feat.

The group organised leaflet drops to appeal for funds and MAST would like to thank five special ‘Diamond Donators’ - businesses who gave a considerable amount to the cause.

Project co-ordinator Maurice Box said: “I’m a member of MAST and we get together every month and usually receive a presentation. One of the talks given was by the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

“It was fascinating; your chances of surviving a cardiac arrest outside of hospital are about two per cent. If someone performs CPR then this goes up to nearly five per cent. But if they use CPR and have a defibrillator it goes up to 40 per cent-plus. They said ‘do you have them in your villages?’ We replied ‘No, we don’t’.”

After the talk, MAST rallied to the cause, and defibrillators are now in the following locations: The Anchor, Tilsworth, Church House, Tilsworth, The Five Bells, Stanbridge, and Stanbridge Lower School.

MAST would also like to thank everyone who donated and helped with the project, including the Stanbridge and Tilsworth ‘Diamond Donators’: EDC Construction (Beds) Ltd, Goodfellers Ltd, Leighway Brickwork Ltd, Vennscapes Ltd and Balguard Engineering Ltd.
