A brace of classic Ford performance models could fetch a combined £800,000 when they go up for auction next month.
Two Sierra Cosworth RS500s plus two “regular” Sierra RS Cosworths are among the fast Fords going under the hammer at Silverstone Auctions’ Supercar Fest Sale sale on 20 May. Alongside them are an Escort RS Turbo, Escort RS Cosworth, Escort Cosworth Lux, and an ultra-rare roadgoing RS200.
Gary Dunne, sales manager at Silverstone Auctions says: "Fresh from the success of the remarkable RS500 sold by us earlier this year for £596,250, we have now consigned a number of very special Fords for our Supercar Fest Sale. We know that the demand for Fast Fords is outstripping their supply as their popularity continues to grow. It will be interesting to see in this next Sale if they’ve reached their auction peak or have more to give.”

9. 1986 Ford RS200
When it comes to rally-bred Fords nothing carries quite the cachet of the RS200, explaining why this car is expected to sell for up to £280,000. Born during the wild days of Group B rally, the RS200’s competitive career was cut short but Ford still had to build a run of roadgoing homologation versions. Beneath the radical flip-up bodywork, a mid-mounted turbocharged 1.8-litre Cosworth engine produced 250bhp (in standard guise) and, with a front-mounted transmission, offered 50/50 weight distribution. | Silverstone Auctions

10. 1986 Ford RS200
This RS200 stands out as having just one previous owner - a director of the RS200 Owners Club - before its current keeper bought the car in 1990, and having covered less than 8,500 miles. It also boasts a number of factory-fitted upgrades, including a power boost to 350bhp, electric windows, a rally pod, and dog-clutch selector for the four-wheel-drive system. | Silverstone Auctions
