Big night of music with James Goff in Leighton
The band was originally formed in 1978 when they were then known as The Van Dyke Big Band because they rehearsed at the school of the same name.
In 1990 James Goff, a professional musician and bandleader for many years, took over the conducting duties and has remained out the front ever since.
This 20 piece orchestra plays many concerts up and down the country raising money for charities. Their repertoire consists of well known big band classics.
In the vocal department is Jeannie Dee, who sang with several well known big bands in the past, including the great Joe Loss orchestra.
Tickets cost £12 and are available from Leighton-Linslade Town Council and Selections Hardware Store. A bar will be available and a raffle will be held to raise funds for the Mayor’s Charities, CLIC Sargent, CHUMS and Leighton-Linslade MS Society. Contact Christine Barrow on 01525 631921 for further details, or just come along and purchase your tickets.
Cllr Cotter said: “If you like big band music come along on April 5 and support the Mayor’s Charities. You will go home feeling uplifted.”
