Caesarian sections ‘not available on demand’

THE c-section rate at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital is 24.7 per cent, in line with the national average of 25 per cent.

After national reports that hospitals were cutting back on the operation, a spokeswoman said the operation was not available on demand: “The most common reasons are distress or clinical risk to the unborn baby, premature onset of labour or serious health risks for the mum-to-be.”
