Clean for the Queen

When Her Majesty came to the throne, litter wasn’t the problem it is today.

Keep Britain Tidy estimates that more than a million tonnes of litter are collected from English streets every year.

Leighton-Linslade volunteer groups will be working with the council during the weekend of March 4 - 6 to remove rubbish from the town centre and surrounding countryside to provide a better environment for everyone to work, walk and play.

If you’re interested in joining the clean up and are happy to give up some of your time, you’ll be very welcome.

Gloves and litter picks will be provided, but if you have your own, bring them along.

Friday, March 4: Litter pick with Friends of Tiddenfoot Waterside Park. Meet in Tiddenfoot car park at 9.30am.

Saturday, March 5: Litterpick with the Canoe Club, along the towpath of the Grand Union Canal. Meet at the canal bridge in town at 9.30am. This event is unsuitable for young children.

Sunday, March 6: Litter pick around the centre of Leighton Buzzard with friends of Leighton-Linslade in Bloom. Meet at the bandstand in Parsons Close Recreation Ground at 10am.

In addition to the litterpicks, all businesses and householders are being asked to remove unsightly rubbish near their property. Just 15 minutes if your time will provide a cleaner environment for everyone.
