The Conservatives have reclaimed the seat vacated by one of their councillors on Leighton-Linslade Town Council.

Thursday’s Grovebury Ward by-election saw Carol Chambers elected with 557 votes, ahead of Labour’s Paul Adams (332), UKIP’s Frank Lelliott (197) and Liberal Democrat Russ Goodchild (141).

The poll followed the resignation of Conservative councillor Richard Dennison in March who stepped down due to relocation because of a new job.

The town council now comprises of 20 Conservative councillors and one Independent.
