Bogus fence repair men stole victim’s wallet

At around 10.30am two men knocked on the door of a house in Winchester Road asking if the occupant needed fence repairs.

They walked through the house to view a fence in the rear garden but left without carrying out any work.

After they left the victim realised his wallet had been stolen.

The offenders are described as white men of medium build. One was in his 50s, around 5ft 10ins to 6ft tall, with grey hair.

He was wearing a white short sleeved top, grey trousers and black shoes. The other was in his early 20s, around 5ft 9ins and wearing a white short-sleeved top and trainers.

Det Con Amanda Durrant said: “We would like to speak to anyone that may have seen men matching this description in the area or have been approached for similar repair work.

“I would urge people in the area to be vigilant and look out for their neighbours, particularly if they are elderly or vulnerable. Anyone that has information that could help us find those responsible is asked to come forward.”
