Buggy off! Would-be thief tries to wheel away £400 of toys from Leighton Buzzard shop

Staff at a shop in Leighton Buzzard stopped a sneaky thief making off with £400 worth of toys - hidden under blankets in a child's buggy.

The incident took place at the B&M store in Grovebury Road retail park.

A central community officer stated: "Vigilant staff at the B&M store stopped this buggy covered with baby blankets in an attempt push out £400 of toys!

"Good CCTV footage will soon detect the offenders."

According to market data firm Statista, there were 359,000 shoplifting offences across England and Wales in the past year, with annual figures continually increasing since 2003.
