After distracting the victim, the men left the property in a white car. It is believed they gained access to the property via a window, leaving in the same way. The man who said he was a police officer is described as white and well built. He was wearing a black hat, black jacket and light trousers with a bandana over his face.

Det Con Jabbar Khan, investigating, said: “This is a particularly disturbing incident which has left the victim shaken, and we won’t tolerate this behaviour.

“I would urge anyone with any information about who is responsible to come forward, and help us track down the man who so heartlessly deceived the victim.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC Khan on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
