Hide AdA Rockwell Collins spokesman said: "Collins Aerospace has made the difficult decision to begin consultations on redundancy with employees and their representatives in our Leighton Buzzard facility.
"The unprecedented impact of Covid-19 has significantly reduced production volumes in commercial aviation and means that we now have to align our business operations and strategy with current demand. We understand this creates a difficult situation for our employees and we are committed to helping them through this transition.
"This is a critical step to ensuring that Collins Aerospace emerges strong once this crisis is contained."
