‘Nowhere for recycling to go’: Central Beds Council forced to pause bin collections after waste contractor suspends service
Recycling waste collection has been paused by Central Bedfordshire Council after its contractor suspended its service with just a day’s notice.
At the weekend, the council told residents recycling waste would not be picked up, including paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, containers and cans.

CBC said: “The contractor who treats our recycling waste has suspended their service with short notice and no time to make alternative arrangements. If there is nowhere for the waste to be treated, there is nowhere for recycling we collect to go."
But it assured people: “We are working every hour to try to resolve it as quickly as we can, and to minimise the impact on you.”
General waste, in the black bins, and food waste will still be collected.
People are asked to keep recycling at home, or residents can book a slot and take recycling to a Household Waste Recycling Centre.
