The Sculpture Gallery, part of the Woburn Estate, is celebrating the Queen’s 90th Birthday by searching for the best amateur baker or pâtissier to serve their own creation at The Woburn Estate’s Indoor Street Party on Sunday, May 15.

The winner will be awarded four tickets to the event for family or friends to taste their winning creation, along with the other guests celebrating the birth of our longest serving monarch.

To enter, budding bakers must share a photo, recipe and the inspiration behind their afternoon tea creation, which must be no larger than eight centimetres in diameter, to [email protected] by 5pm on Wednesday, May 11.

Entrants must also include their name, address and telephone number. All entries will be judged by Olivier Bertho, executive chef at The Sculpture Gallery and Olivier’s Restaurant at The Woburn Hotel.

The much anticipated Indoor Street Party will see guests enjoy afternoon tea with a royal twist, from 2pm to 5.30pm, accompanied by a nostalgic sing-along with Lili La Scala, The Songbird of Trafalgar Square, followed by classic garden games. Additionally, if you are turning 90 in 2016 please come along and receive a commemorative gift.

Speaking of the event, executive chef Olivier said; “The Woburn Estate has long had a special connection with afternoon tea; it is where Duchess Anna Maria, wife of the 7th Duke of Bedford, popularised the tradition in the 1840s and visitors can still enjoy her chosen afternoon tea selection at The Woburn Hotel today.

“This connection makes The Woburn Estate the perfect setting to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday, and we hope that budding bakers and pastry chefs from across the county can join us to mark this special occasion on May 15.”
