Food event launches at garden show

Woburn Abbey Garden Show will play host to some of the region's best food and drink producers at a new Focus on Food Tourism event.

Focus on Food Tourism takes place within the popular garden show on June 25 and 26, showcasing food suppliers from the East of England.

From cheese to crayfish and chutney to Chinese sauces, the Focus on Food Tourism marquee will provide a platform for 30 small producers, including Crayfish Capers, a family-­run business based in Milton Keynes.

Crayfish Capers, which specialises in trapping and supplying signal crayfish, came about as a result of the invasion of the crustaceans in UK rivers and canals. Visitors will be able to sample its Crayfish Capers Fishcakes.

Family­-run condiment company Scarlett & Mustard will be showcasing its range of dressings, marinades, oils, jams and curds.

Gambardeli is a producer of meat-­free steaks, suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

The Woburn Abbey Garden Show attracts thousands of visitors every year

Robert Gunn, of co-organiser Tastes of Anglia, said: “This is a perfect opportunity for the food and drink industry of the region to promote the East of England as a food tourism destination.”
