Help For Heroes Truck Convoy
The 80 truck convoy will set off from A5 Watling Street truck stop at 11am and travel along the A5, through Dunstable town centre, arriving at a show-ground in Billington at midday.
It will be joined by motorcycles and classic cars for a two day event to raise money for Help For Heroes.
Mark Harris, one of the coordinators for the event, said: “We are looking forward to the event, the Mayor of Dunstable will be coming and Grant Palmer will be running free buses from the show-ground every hour for members of the public.
“We have had quite a lot of interest on social media. There will be something for everyone over the two days, we will have bars, entertainment for the children, rides, fire engines and a number of stalls.
“The main beneficiary for this years event is Help For Heroes but a number of other charities will be coming down as well.
“As this years event shares dates with the Queen’s Birthday we would like to invite people into the High Street to wave flags, meet Hero Bear and join in to create an atmosphere.
“We also have a special gust this year, Archie Rankin and his family, he donated his birthday money to Help For Heroes.
“We will also be auctioning a framed item, produced for us by Lee Rigby’s dad, Phil, and it has been signed by the Stobarts team, Rebecca Rigby and Phil.”
Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a charity which is dedicated to supporting children of men and women killed while serving in the British Armed Forces, will also be at the event raising awareness about what they do.
Graham Munt, one of the organisers of the event, said: “We will have live music, a Lightening McQueen car, a bouncy castle, food outlets and military training displays. This event will be big and we look forward to seeing lots of people over the two days which looks set to be a weekend full of fun for all the family.”
Admission to the event is free and any donations made will go to the charities.
