Leighton's Vandyke Theatre does Broadway and Beyond for Mind

A musical extravaganza featuring numbers from South Pacific, Guys and Dolls, Singing in the Rain, Carousel, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Easter Parade and many more will be performed in aid of Mind, the charity for better mental health.

Broadway and Beyond is being staged by The Advance Theatre Company at the Vandyke Theatre on Saturday, April 8.

There are two shows, at 4pm and 7pm.

The group includes semi-professional singers, dancers and actors alongside amateur performers.

The company regularly produces events at theatrical venues and in the community in aid of local, national and international charities.

At Christmas they took part in various activities which raised more than £3,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support and in November they donated more than £800 to the Lullaby Trust, which offers expert advice on safer baby sleep and provides special support for anyone bereaved through Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

They have also funded several pairs of “supershoes” for local children diagnosed with cancer.

The Supershoes charity was founded in 2013 to provide custom-designed footwear – handpainted by a Super Artist – illustrating that particular child’s special interests and acting as a unique reminder of who they are, in spite of their illness.
