Live music gig tonight to help Leighton Buzzard's Kye Vincent

A Leighton Buzzard band will perform a special gig this evening to raise money for a little boy struck by meningitis.

Eight-year-old Kye Vincent had both legs and one hand amputated on April 14 after becoming ill with meningococcal septicaemia.

To help him and his family cope in the future, a stream of fundraising events have been organised by big-hearted members of the community.

At 7.30pm this evening, band Tess and the Durbervilles will perform a fundraising gig at Leighton Town Football Club on Bell Close, Lake Street.

Bandleader Tess Roberts said: “My husband and I are both in the band and both our daughters go to Kye’s school. My eldest is in his class so we felt this was really important for us, to support him and his family.”

All proceeds from the event will go to Kye’s family. In addition to live music, there will be a bar, hot food van, raffle and silent auction.

Tickets are £10 and can be purchased at the door or in advance from Mary Bassett Lower School reception or Espresso Head on Hockliffe Street.
