Luton Airport named rudest in the UK

Luton Airport was named the UK’s rudest airport by travellers who took part in a survey by travel website Skyscanner.

More than 500 travellers were asked to rate UK and European airports according to the friendliness of their staff, and London Luton were rated the unfriendliest, while Edinburgh staff were the friendliest.

Across all airports, check-in staff appeared bottom of the list, while staff in restaurants and shops were typically the chirpiest.

After Luton, Stansted, Heathrow, Gatwick and Birmingham made the top five for rudeness.

This was despite immigration staff being asked to turn on the charm during the busy summer Olympic months as the capital was in the international spotlight.

Airports in the North were rated the friendlist, with Edinburgh coming top, followed by Newcastle and Manchester. Northern Irish airports Belfast International and Belfast City also made it into the top five friendliest.

In Europe, Paris was the rudest airport and Copenhagen was the friendliest.

Complaints about members of staff range from abrupt responses, to the endless queues and manhandling at security.
