Man from Leighton Buzzard accused of sexual assault

A man from Leighton Buzzard appeared in court this morning accused of sexually assaulting a young man.

Peter Wenham, 65, appeared at Luton Crown Court this morning accused of carrying out the assault on March 28 last year.

The prosecution allege that Mr Wenham, of Grove Road, falsely imprisoned the young man in a garden shed.

It is also alleged that he then performed a sexual assault on the much younger man.

Summarising the prosecution case as it currently stands, Judge Charles Kay said: “The evidence from the complainant is that he was ushered into the shed with some guidance.

“The complainant says he heard the latch on the door go ... The defendant is then said to have stood in front of the door.”

Mr Wenham pleaded not guilty to the charge of sexual assault and this morning also pleaded not guilty to the second charge of false imprisonment.

A trial has been scheduled to begin after March 14.
