Pages Park community garden is offically opened

A trio of Greenleas schoolchildren presented Leighton-Linslade Mayor and Mayoress, Cllr Stephen and Mrs Ann Cotter, with buttonholes made from fresh flowers grown in the community garden they had come to open.

The Pages Park site, established only two years ago by the Leighton-Linslade In Bloom Community Garden Group, was also being judged by Anglia in Bloom. It has been nominated for a special award by the Group’s Friends and, in addition, has been shortlisted for a CPRE Living Landscape Award.

There are comfy benches at strategic places so visitors can sit and enjoy the ambience as well as recently-erected arches framing the views and adding height to the variegated planting.

It also has a number of themed beds such as cool, hot, perfumed and a touchy feely grass patch with a path running through.

The official opening was attended by members of the Rotary Club of Leighton Linslade, who have generously donated time and money, as well as Leighton Buzzard Ramblers who have given a bench.

The Group has also dedicated a bench to the memory of former member David Miller whose widow Enid is a volunteer at the garden.
