The squares will be sewn together to make rainbow comfort blankets and donated to vulnerable children and residents in the community.

PCSO Rachel Carne said: “We have so far had nearly 1,000 beautiful squares knitted. The ladies have really enjoyed making the squares, which have  kept them busy in lockdown. The ladies have told myself and the staff in Morrisons lots of their knitting stories going back to their childhood, which have been lovely to hear and very interesting.

“Morrisons have been collecting squares from those isolating when they are buzzing about the town in their delivery van, which has been a massive help.”
