Broken car park lights will be fixed thanks to Leighton Buzzard's MP
Broken lights in a Leighton Buzzard car park are set to be fixed thanks to some detective work by the town's MP.
Alex Mayer was contacted by constituents about faulty lights in the car park of Tesco and The Range, Vimy Road, with shoppers fed up of being "left in the dark".

Thanks to her investigation, six broken lights – belonging to The Range – have now been fixed with the final two – belonging to Tesco – set to be repaired soon.
A spokeswoman for Tesco, said: "Our maintenance teams, alongside specialist contractors, are working hard to carry out the necessary repairs to lighting near our Leighton Buzzard superstore as soon as possible.
"We apologise for the inconvenience caused. We have engaged with Ms Mayer to provide an update on the planned repairs."
To find out who owned the lights, Ms Mayer first contacted the Land Registry and cross referenced a map of the problem area with their plans.
Following discussions, Tesco’s property and maintenance team visited with an electrician – and they found that that six of the lampposts in question are fed by The Range’s electricity supply, while two Tesco lamps were suffering from faulty cabling.
Ms Mayer then "kept up the pressure" on both companies to fix them.
She concluded: “This has been a real pain for shoppers and staff. I’m glad we’ve finally got the first lampposts fixed before the darker nights pull in and the rest will follow soon.”
The MP met the engineers working on The Range lights, which have received a full LED upgrade, making them “more reliable, easier to maintain and energy-efficient”.
Tesco has also confirmed its two lights have now been assessed and a specialist contractor assigned to repair the cables.
Ms Mayer says she will "keep chasing" until all eight are back in action.
The LBO has reached out to The Range for a comment.
