Chris Packham National Emergency Briefing film on climate crisis screened in Stewkley
More than 60 people attended a screening of the National Emergency Briefing film at Stewkley Methodist Chapel on Tuesday September 8.
The screening of the film was organised by Sustainable Stewkley, a group of villagers interested in promoting actions locally that could bring a positive difference in facing the challenges related to the climate crisis.
Following a showing of the film, attendees talked in groups about their reactions and what actions they could take.
Initial reactions from attendees included feeling ‘frustrated’, ‘concerned’ and that ‘nothing is being done.’

Further discussion ensued about what could be done next, with reactions including ‘organising more screenings’, and ‘getting the message through to more younger adults.’
Finally, the meeting was played a video message from the area’s MP Callum Anderson, who was unable to attend the screening due to Parliamentary commitments.
Judith Heinemann, from the Milton Keynes Climate Action Network, who was among the attendees at the screening said: “The welcome was very warm, the atmosphere open, curious, supportive and very positive about taking action.”
The film is based on a briefing in Westminster in November 2025 and is presented by Chris Packham.

It consists of experts presenting evidence on the implications of climate and nature breakdown for health, food systems, national security and the economy.
It combines scientific evidence with reactions from members of the public and sets out both the risks and opportunities for the future.
The film, which was released nationally in April, has been screened more than 1,600 times across the country.
