Firefighters tackle Stoke Hammond bush fire

A fire crew put out a bush fire in Stoke Hammond this morning (August 2).

The blaze, to bushes and the verge on Newton Road, was put out using a hose reel and beaters.

Approximately 30 metres by 20 metres of vegetation was damaged.

It comes as fire crews across the area are on high alert after extreme heat and a lack of rain has parched vegetation. People are being asked to avoid discarding lit cigarettes and not leave barbecues unattended.

Thames Valley Police were notified.
