In Pictures: Leighton Buzzard's Buzzstock Music Festival was 'one huge dancefloor'

Buzzstock Music Festival is putting Leighton Buzzard on the map as thousands of people gathered to party in the summer sunshine.

Now in its fifth year, the festival attracts music fans of all ages, with entertainment ranging from 90s chart hits to a modern 'Olivia Rodrigo' tribute.

The popular and ever-growing event took place last weekend (July 17 and 18) and included lots of audience paticipation, with crowds becoming "part of the show".

Festival organiser Andrena Carden-Higgins, said: "Both of our headliners completely understood what Buzzstock is about.

"Ultra 90s vs Dance Anthems had people on their feet dancing on Friday, and by the end of Massaoke on Saturday, I think half the field had sore voices from singing.

“There aren’t many places where children, teenagers, parents and grandparents can genuinely share the same experience rather than having separate entertainment.

"Seeing them dancing and singing together was incredibly special."

The main stage hosted "an eclectic mix" of live music and tribute performances, including local band Chasing Tides, Undivided, Beyoncé tribute Fierce, Solarzone, an Olivia Rodrigo tribute, Rogue Minogue, and Britpop favourites.

Meanwhile, the festival was proud to debut its second performance venue, the Ouzel Stage, named after the nearby Ouzel Brook. Friday took "a rockier direction" with live bands and tributes, while on Saturday it featured house, disco and feel-good dance music.

Andrena added: "From those who remembered the songs the first time around to a new generation discovering them, the field became one huge dancefloor."

The Buzzstock team were also proud to promote independent food traders, bars, stalls, and activities – which together created a "festival village atmosphere" – as well as promoting local artists The Dirty Mojos, Syndicate, Chasing Tides, Solarzone, and Molly Elizabeth.

Meanwhile, Leighton-Linslade businesses, suppliers, sponsors and organisations "played a major role" in making the event possible.

Adrena concluded: "Buzzstock takes months of work from a huge number of people. We’re exhausted, incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make it happen, and very proud of what was created in that field this weekend.”

Buzzstock Music Festival is an independently organised event and takes places each year opposite Billington's car boot field, Stanbridge Road.
