Alexander himself said: “I really enjoyed myself. It’s been fun, but a little bit nervous as well. If I win, it would be amazing. I’ve been a chorister for five years so it would feel almost like the pinnacle of that ladder.”

Mr Dickens added: “There are some superb singers in the final, three girls and two other boys, all of whom sang really well, so the competition is hotting up.”

The final will be broadcast on BBC1 on Sunday, December 6 at 1.15 pm.
