A singer from Leighton Buzzard has been keeping her neighbours' spirits up by singing on her driveway.

Fiona Harrison, a Soprano and Costume Artist, has been performing this week for local residents to lift morale on her road during the coronavirus pandemic.

On Easter Saturday she performed an Easter Bonnet Show on her front lawn in Camberton Road, the following day she performed the same show on a driveway in Ashburnham Crescent and on Wednesday she was asked to perform Magic of the Musicals at another address on her road.

On Thursday, she performed 'We'll Meet Again' on her front lawn, pausing at 8pm to applaud the NHS.

She said: "Thursday's performance went very well and we had a good turn out from all the neighbours in Camberton Road.

"The singing was something that I thought I could do to help raise the spirits of the residents in my road, while following government guidelines and practising social distancing.

"The first show was on my driveway and then I was asked to sing on another driveway on the road, it is just about keeping morale high in difficult times and people are enjoying it.

"Fortunately I live in a cul-de-sac so we don’t have a traffic problem and people were able to watch me from their front gardens.

"We have observed social distancing at all times and I would like to say a big thank-you to the families who have allowed me to use their front lawns and drives-ways as stages.

"Normally this would be a very busy time of the year as I travel extensively and I was looking forward to a busy diary with the run up the the 75th VE Day Commemorations in May.

"Instead it lovely to be able to give something back to my community and to lift the spirit of my neighbours through music."

Fiona specialises in music from the 1880s to the 1970s, from Marie Lloyd to ABBA, from Opera, Big Band and Swing, Hollywood Musicals to Rock and Roll.
