Sue Hale, 59, travelled to an airfield in Cirencester recently to face her challenge, which was a feat she had dreamed of for a number of years.

Fearless Sue’s flight has raised a fantastic £1,040 for the service, and she’s extremely grateful to everyone for supporting her fundraiser during the pandemic.

Sue said: “It was lovely, it was quite amazing being up there.

“It was windy, but it was quite sunny, and it was also very, very noisy - but I think some of that was due to my ear plugs falling out quite early on!

“I’m glad that I did it, but I don’t think I would do it again; I don’t think it’s one of those things you would. It’s something I’ve ticked off my list.”

Sue’s son Matt Hale, 31, is a critical care paramedic for the Thames Valley Air Ambulance and notified Sue when an opportunity to do a wing walk for the service arose.

He and Sue’s husband, Glenn Hale, 70, went to watch.

Sue said: “It’s something I said about doing years and years ago; I don’t know why, I don’t know if I saw it somewhere at some point.

“My husband was quite worried and I think Matt was really proud because he knew I’d always wanted to do it.

“I would like to say thank you to everyone who donated. It was so nice of people to give money, especially in these current times.”
