The afternoon tea party, rather than being abandoned altogether was, instead, moved to people’s own homes.

All members, helpers and volunteers received a celebratory cupcake (56 in total were delivered ) made by group member Norma Wallace and a copy of a booklet produced by trustee and treasurer William Duperouzel about Katrina Boyce, the founding member of the group, and benefactor Paul Coles, who supported Katrina in setting up the group.

A spokesman said: “Although the group could not be together in body, they were together in spirit. It was a lovely way to celebrate the achievement of the group and a real boost in these difficult times.”

The Centre for Health Healing and Counselling was set up to support people with life threatening and chronic illness. It provides a safe, relaxed environment where people can meet friends, talk over any worries or problems, in confidence, with a trained counsellor and maybe enjoy a relaxing therapy by their qualified therapists.

If anyone is suffering from a chronic or life threatening illness, they can find out more about the group by contacting the group coordinator Elaine Kirk on 01525 838859.
