'One of life's good guys': Tributes paid to former Berkhamsted and Leighton Town player
Heartfelt tributes are being paid to a former Berkhamsted and Leighton Town footballer who "lit up the room".
Max Farrelly, who was his 30s, died unexpectedly last week and will be "deeply missed".

His funeral will be held on August 10 at 11.30am at Hemel Hempstead Crematorium, followed by a wake at Hemel Hempstead Cricket Club.
Andrew Sparrow, Berkhamsted FC club secretary, said: "Max was a very big personality. He lit up the room. He was the nicest, friendliest, happiest guy.

"When he crossed the white line he was competitive, rugged, determined – a real warrior on the field.
"Off the field, he was pleasant, generous and was happy to talk to anybody. He was great with the supporters. He was one of life's good guys.
"His death is very sad and totally unexpected."
In a statement, Steve Davis, Berkhamsted FC chairman (2009 – 2025), said: "Max was a leader on the pitch and a big part of Berko's climb through the pyramid. We called him Maximus for his gladiator approach and the scars he picked up on the way. A true Berko legend.
"Catch you soon mate and thanks for everything."
In an official tribute, Leighton Town FC said: "We are devastated to hear of the passing of our former player and Berkhamsted legend, Max Farrelly.
"Max was part of our 22/23 Spartan winning squad and was a fantastic character on and off the pitch.
"The thoughts of everyone at Leighton Town are with Max’s friends and family. Rest in peace, Max."
Max played for Berkhamsted FC over a period of 10 years, starting with a 2-1 win against Harpenden in 2012 and finishing with a 2-2 draw against Thame United in 2022. He made 256 appearances for the club and scored 26 goals.
He also spent time playing for Flaunden FC, with the club describing him as an "an absolute warrior on the pitch and a true gentleman off it," as well as Leverstock Green FC, which stated: "Max was a fan favourite and will be missed by us all."
As a youngster, he played for Aylesbury Vale Dynamos FC.
A talented sportsman, Max played for Hemel Hempstead Town Cricket Club, too, whose tribute remembers him as "one of the most popular players and an extremely talented wicketkeeper."
Max joined the cricket club as a Colt and was "instrumental" in winning the U13 and U15 County Cups. Following his successful football career, he had recently returned to playing senior cricket and helped the 5th XI win the league last year.
Max, who lived in Berkhamsted, leaves behind his wife Mia, his parents Brian and Shelly, his sister Emily, and the rest of his family and friends.
Berkhamsted FC held a minute’s applause in honour of Max prior to Sunday's game against Real Bedford (July 19).
Chris Devane, Berkhamsted FC manager, stated: "Max had a way of bringing people together, and he will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him."
