Leighton-Linslade Town Council has been working closely with the Royal British Legion and local churches on this year's plans - but says the key message is to stay safe, stay at home and watch online.

Neighbouring Dunstable has cancelled its planned act of Remembrance at its war memorial, but in Leighton-Linslade, although the pandemic means that no parade will take place this year, short services will be going ahead.

At the Church Square war memorial the service will be conducted by the Reverend Cate Irvine at 10.45am and a limited number of wreaths will be laid. Attendance is by invitation only, to ensure it can be done safely.

The service will be live-streamed to the Town Council’s Facebook page (@LLTCNews) on the morning of Sunday, November 8 at 10:45am. If you prefer to watch the national commemoration at that time, you can catch up on what happened locally by visiting the All Saints Church website from 3pm that day.

At Linslade War Memorial - Garden of Remembrance a short service will be conducted by Reverend Dr Bernard Minton, by invitation only, with a very small number of wreath layers. The service will be recorded and made available on the Town Council’s Facebook page (@LLTCNews) on the afternoon of Sunday, November 8.

All parties would like to strongly encourage Leighton Buzzard and Linslade residents to please stay at home this year and to instead watch the act of Remembrance with their loved ones, in their own homes.

Outside of those specifically invited to the services, any other organisation or individual is welcome to lay a wreath at either the Leighton Buzzard or the Linslade War Memorial at any time, but please avoid 11am on Sunday, November 8 and Wednesday, November 11 and follow the public health safety guidance.

Plans may be affected by any further changes in local or national safety guidance between now and November 8. Please follow the Town Council’s media profiles or website to keep up to date.
