The LBO understands parents have been sent a letter outlining the change of heart - just 24 hours after our front page story on the planned move.

A-Level drama courses looks to be still in jeopardy however.

Previously we reported how parents had hit out at the omission of drama from both the GCSE and Sixth Form prospectuses.

Parent Kerry Bright posted on the LBO’s Facebook page: “The school has made a very positive move forward by reinstating GCSE Drama to the curriculum, this shows they are listening to the students/parents/carers.

“However, they need to continue to listen to their students and reinstate A Levels too with immediate effect.”

Last Thursday a letter was sent out explaining the move, prompting parents to form a ‘Keep drama at Vandyke’ campaign group.
