Six engines sent to major field fire in Wing which prompted road closures

Six fire engines were sent to a major blaze ignited in Wing yesterday afternoon.

A road closure was authorised in both directions on the A418 while emergency responders dealt with the blaze on land next to Aylesbury Road between Wing and Wingrave.

Wing Parish Council said that the fire is in a field opposite Lower Cottages, on the right hand side of the road coming into Wing from the Aylesbury direction, while eyewitnesses are reporting that police were in the area between Rowsham and Wing.

Bucks Fire and Rescue Service said that six crews were called to an incident on Aylesbury Road at just before 2.30pm. The service reported that a field was ‘well alight’ on arrival, and that crews from Aylesbury, Broughton, West Ashland and Leighton Buzzard are using five hose reel jets, multiple beaters and a thermal imaging camera to tackle the incident.
