Stewkley amateur dramatics group preparing to stage its first full musical
An amateur dramatics group based in Stewkley are preparing to stage their first full musical, when they perform Monty Python’s Spamalot later this month.
Stewkley Players, who have been performing plays in the village since 1955, are staging what the official poster describes as ‘a new musical lovingly ripped off from the motion picture Monty Python and the Holy Grail.’

The cast (which includes the writer of this article), have been rehearsing two or three times a week since early September in readiness for the opening night on November 26.
They are hoping the show will have audiences laughing and singing along.
Chris Mills, who plays the role of King Arthur in the Players version of Spamalot told National World: "Spamalot is our first proper musical, and has also been one of the most complex productions we have ever staged, with lots of set pieces, some quite difficult songs and the usual silliness of a Monty Python script.
"It is a pretty demanding production, but we are thoroughly enjoying putting it together, and we hope our audiences will love it too."
Spamalot will be the group’s 132nd production, and runs for four consecutive nights at Stewkley Village Hall from Wednesday November 26 to Saturday November 29.
Doors open at 7.30pm each night with the performances starting at 8pm. A licensed bar will be open before the show and during the interval.
Teas and coffees will be served during the interval, while ice-creams will also be on sale, and a raffle with some fantastic prizes will be drawn each night.
Tickets priced at £8.50 per person are still available for all four nights through the TicketSource website or by calling the booking line on 0333 666 3366.
