Taylor Wimpey is currently drawing up proposals for the housing, along with public open space, on the grounds of the former quarry site off Grovebury Road.

The principle of residential development on the site has already been established with outline planning approval granted by Central Bedfordshire Council in 2011.

Taylor Wimpey South Midlands is now working up a reserved matters planning application, which deals with detailed matters which have not already been agreed at outline stage, including property design, layout and landscaping.

Further information about the proposals will be unveiled during a public exhibition to be held at Astral Park Sports and Community Centre, Johnson Drive, on Wednesday, March 23 between 3pm and 7pm.

The consultation event will give local residents, businesses, community groups and other interested parties the chance to find out more about the scheme and discuss the plans with the Taylor Wimpey project team.

Comments received from those who attend the event will help shape the development proposals before a planning application is finalised for submission to Central Bedfordshire Council.

Emma Walton, planning manager for Taylor Wimpey, said: “As a considerable, responsible developer we want to give people the chance to have their say on development plans for their area – and this is why we are inviting the local community to find out more about our proposals for the land off Grovebury Road in Leighton Buzzard.

“We are confident that this scheme will provide an attractive and sustainable development of high-quality homes to meet a range of requirements – including affordable properties for local people in housing need – as well as a large area of public open space.

“Anyone who comes along to the public exhibition on Wednesday 23rd March will be able to speak to members of our project team to find out more about our proposals and provide their feedback to help us develop and refine the emerging scheme.”

The proposed site is a brownfield site which was formerly used as a quarry. It is located to the south of Grovebury Road, north of the A1446 and west of Taylor Wimpey’s current Roman Gate development off Theedway.

Under the proposals, Taylor Wimpey will provide a mix of housing types to suit a range of purchasers, including one and two-bedroom apartments and two, three, four and five-bedroom houses – with 22% to be provided as affordable housing.

Those who are unable to attend will be able to access the information displayed at the event online at www.taylorwimpey.com/grovebury-road from March 23 onwards.
