Get ready for the wildest night of the year on Saturday, June 21 as Whipsnade Zoo opens its gates after dark for Big Night Out from 6pm to 10pm.

Visitors can see what the zoo’s creatures get up to after hours and they will be treated to a packed evening of entertainment and food.

African drummers, Mexican Mariachi, carnival dancers and Caribbean steel bands will be getting the party started on The Mane Stage, along with Tanzanian acrobatic team The Black Eagles.

The zoo’s keepers will give animal demonstrations, talks and feeds. You can also watch baby Asian elephant Max join his family for a Trunk Walk across the zoo, enjoy a guided tour in a safari truck or see what the bears eat for dinner at the Brown Bear Picnic.

The Feeding Frenzy Food Festival on the main lawn will be offering a hog roast, barbecue or pick-up picnic. The Lion Bar will serve Pimms, draught lager, wine, cider and soft drinks.

At the Transformation Station you can have your photo taken as your favourite zoo animal. Throw on an animal onesie, have your face painted or pick a mask and then let the magic of green screen transport you to the wild. For those who just want to sit back and enjoy the views of Dunstable Downs, live jazz will be performed at the Lookout Café.
