Snow causes traffic delays

OVERNIGHT snow has caused traffic delays in Bedfordshire this morning.

Hatters Way in Luton, the A5 in Dunstable and the A6 in Luton have all seen delays.

Central Bedfordshire Council said its gritters were out covering ‘priority routes’ from 3am, and that all schools were open as usual.

At Luton Airport there are delays on arriving and departing flights, with staff working to keep the runway clear of snow. Passengers are advised to check with their airline for updates.

Luton Borough Council said yesterday that gritting would be carried out on key routes and A roads, and that residents should use the borough’s 230 salt bins to treat local roads and pavements where necessary.
