Steroids upset Maggie

BRAVE Toddington mum Maggie Thomas, who had surgery last week to remove one of several tumours on her lungs, is now struggling with the side effects of steroids.

She was prescribed the drugs for the cancer which has moved to her brain.

Her childhood sweetheart and husband David said: “They’re causing insomnia. She hasn’t had a goodnight’s sleep in ages and is absolutely exhausted.”

The mum-of-six is also feeling bloated and puffy.

But the couple are hoping she’ll be well enough for more surgery next week before they consider going back to Germany for controversial hyperthermia which blasts the tumours with heat.

They are talking to the BBC about the possibility of a documentary and their story appeared in The People on Sunday.

> The Herald&Post has been spearheading an appeal so Maggie can travel to Germany for the life-saving treatment. To make a donation visit www.maggieshope.co.uk

There’s a fundraiser at Charlie Browns on Saturday from 8pm which benefits two other local charities.
