Still time to make a gift-filled shoebox

THREE-YEAR-OLD Pavel is round-eyed with wonder.

He can’t believe all the lovely presents in the shoebox are meant for him.

Asked to choose which one he likes most, he carefully goes through the contents then triumphantly holds up a wheeled truck and whispers: “This one!”

Pavel’s is just one of the heart-warming stories from Operation Christmas Child.

The Herald&Post has been associated with the charity’s shoebox appeal for many years and we are proud to be a drop-off point.

The deadline is fast approaching - it’s two weeks tomorrow (Friday, November 18).

But there’s still time to ensure you can bring joy to an underprivileged child in the Third World.

Decide first whether you’d prefer your gift to go to a girl or a boy, then cover a shoebox and its lid with festive paper and fill it with presents for one of three age groups.

Items can include toys, educational supplies and sports equipment like balls and sweat bands as well as sweets, gloves and bangles.
