Eight-year-old Kye Vincent, of Leighton Buzzard, had both legs and one hand amputated in April after becoming ill with meningococcal septicaemia.

To help him and his family cope in the future a stream of fundraising events have been organised by the community.

Dunstable Dubbers Volkswagen Club is holding a charity Show N Shine event on Saturday, August 27, to raise money for the family.

This event inspired Adam Henderson, 42, to walk from London to Brighton to raise money and help Kye’s family.

He said: “We want to support this family, there are six of us taking on the challenge, we are starting at 7pm and 24 hours is our cut off point, we will each be carrying two burgens with the equivalent of Kye’s body weight, 24.2kg.

“As a team we will have to dig deep and work together, we hope to raise £4000 for Kye and his family, any donations will be gratefully received.”

They take on the 50 mile challenge on Saturday, September 10, to make a donation, visit: https://crowdfunding.justgiving.com/adam-henderson?utm_id=64
