Year of talks launched at Rushmere Country Park

A series of talks has been launched this year at Rushmere Country Park covering a wide range of topics.

They will take place on Mondays and Tuesdays in the TreeTops Café and will run for about an hour from 11.30am, with time for questions and answers.

The first talk is on Tuesday, January 26, when Alexe Rose will given an introduction to the Greensand Trust and Rushmere Country Park, including a short tour.

A Thousand Years of English Nature Poetry is the title of Judith Knight’s talk on Monday, February 29, revealing how the natural world has inspired to convey human thoughts and emotions.

Take a peep at Maulden Wood and Heath through the seasons with John Pitt on Monday, March 7, when you can find out more about the Working Woodland Centre and how volunteers help.

The talks continue in April and then run from September until December.

TreeTop Talks are free but donations are welcome and funds raised will helps to secure the future of many habitats and species and make wildlife and green spaces more accessible.

A trust spokesman said: “Come along and enjoy delicious cakes and pastries, meet up with friends or make new ones in a relaxed atmosphere and learn more about the work we do.”

There is no need to book but numbers are limited so please send an email at [email protected] or call to confirm spaces. On arrival please sign in at the visitor information desk from where we will direct you.

There is a parking fee of £2. The cafe is open 10am to 4pm.

The visitor centre is on Linslade Road, Heath and Reach, LU7 0EB.
