The ELC is carrying out a voluntary recall of its Bathtime Fun Wind-Up Submarine and a safety notice on its Wooden London Bus, after fears of loose parts and sharp edges.

Bathtime Fun Wind-Up Submarine

The Early Learning Centre is concerned that the propeller blades on its Bathtime Fun Wind-Up Submarine may break off, resulting in the creation of small parts and sharp edges.

The toy was sold through The Entertainer stores and website between September 2019 and October 2020.

Both blue and white versions are affected, but no injuries have been reported related to the use of the toy so far.

If you own the product, you should check the item code on the base. If the code reads 312-17107, you can return the toy to any of The Entertainer stores for a full refund.

No other numbers or styles are affected.

The ELC has also issued a voluntary safety notice for the Wooden London Bus toy.

The retailer is asking customers to check their products after a rare number of cases where passenger heads on the toy are loose.

Customers should check the batch code on the base of the box or the underside of the bus.

Batch codes that contain the numbers 08-20 are not affected and no further action is required.

For all other batch codes, customers should check the head attachment is secure on the passengers. If you discover a loose head, keep it away from your child and contact the ELC customer service team, who will organise a replacement part free of charge

To find the batch code, check the base of the bus and the upper side of the upper deck on the bus.

The product was sold through The Entertainer and Mothercare stores and websites from May 2019, and no injuries have been reported relating to the use of this toy.

“Safety is always our number one priority at Early Learning Centre. When a batch of these 2 products failed to meet our high standard of expected quality, we issued voluntary product safety notices for both items. However, there have been no reports of injuries to any customer from either product.

"As a responsible manufacturer, we risk assessed the products and their potential safety issues and took the decision to voluntarily inform customers and give them the option to return the item for a full refund or exchange.”
