Rain wrecks Brickhill’s charge

Great Brickhill missed out on the opportunity to retake the lead of Cherwell League Division 1 as rain put paid to their chances.

Having let slip top spot last week because of the weather, Brickhill were taking on Thame Town, the side who ousted them atop the table.

With the ball in hand, Brickhill looked in good shape to pick up the victory. Iqbal John had 3-23 to his name as Thame were looking on rocky ground at 164-8.

But a torrential downpour put paid to the action after 35 overs played.

Despite waiting it out, conditions didn’t improve enough to get any more action in, and the game was abandoned.

Both sides picked up six points apiece, but it means Leighton Buzzard’s win over Tiddington sees both sides drop down the order, with Great Brickhill now third.

It was a similar result for Great Brickhill 2nds, whose game with Bletchley went the way of the weather, as both sides shared six points.
