
But he was happy for Jake Howells to step up and avoid any tussle over the ball a la Steve Howard and Kevin Nicholls at York in 2001-02.
He said: “I looked over and I wasn’t sure who the penalty take was to be honest. But Howellsy looked like he was confident and he looked like he wanted it so I wasn’t going to stand in his way.”
